The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) developed a body of recommended practices in the functional areas of public finance. As time passed, GFOA determined that these recommendations be reclassified as “Best Practices”. These practices identify specific policies and procedures to improve financial management in government.
With that being said, GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program to encourage governments to prepare budgets of the very highest quality that reflects the “Best Practices” and then recognizes individual governments that has succeeded in achieving that goal.
The City of Leander’s Finance Department has achieved that goal!
