School Resource Officer (SRO)
The Leander Police Departments SRO program began in 1998. The program is a partnership between the police department and the Leander Independent School District.
The SRO frequently acts as the primary investigator for crimes occurring on the school campus and acts in a proactive manner helping to keep our schools safer for students and teachers.
Currently the Leander Police Department has officers assigned to the Leander High School, Rouse High School and Leander Extended Opportunity (LEO) center.
The Leander Police Department is proud to be launching Leander's first law enforcement Explorer Post, Post # 641. This program was developed and implemented as a result of a growing interest in the field of law enforcement among high school students in the Leander area.
